MEMBERSHIP IN THE EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ARTS

  • On September 18, 2015, Professor Tassos Bountis was elected member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) based on his total scientific work, activities and contributions to date, following the recommendation of other members of the EASA. The official nomination takes place on March 5, 2016, at Salzburg, Austria, where EASA resides (for more information see http://www.euro-acad.eu/).

DISTINCTION BY THE ACADEMY OF ATHENS

  • On April 3, 2014 the General Assembly of the Academy of Athens elected Professor Tassos Bountis Corresponding Member of the Academy in the field of “Complex Systems” It should be noted that this is the first time that Complexity Science is officially recognized in Greece by such an important and prestigious cultural and scientific body. This distinction constitutes an honor not only to the recipient, but also to the multitude of Greek scientists that have been producing interesting results in the field of Complex Systems in the last 3 decades.

CHARLES HERMITE SCIENCE AMBASSADOR AWARD

  • On September 7, 2014, Professor Tassos Bountis received the Charles Hermite Science Ambassador Award, by the Saarpfalz District and its President, in Homburg/Saar, Germany, during the international conference EASC 2014 SDEDE, “to honor his outstanding research and his role as an international scientific ambassador of excellence”. The award was shared with Professor Ağacık Zafer of the Department of Mathematics, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.
