Dr.
Panayotis E. Pintelas received his BSc in Mathematics from the University
of Athens, Hellas,
in 1971, and his MSc and PhD in Computer Science from the University of
Bradford, UK, in 1973 and 1976, respectively. Since 1995, he is an
Professor of Computer Science with the Informatics Division of the Dept.
of Mathematics at the Univ.
of Patras. He was
elected Head of the Division of Applied Mathematics and Informatics from
1991 to 1993 and 1998 onwards. In the recent past, he was with the Dept.
of Computer Engineering and Informatics, Univ. of Patras,
as a Visiting Scientist (1981-1984), Lecturer (1984-1987) and Assistant
Professor (1987-1991).
His
research interests include Software Specification and Software Design,
Software Engineering, Computer Assisted Training and Education
(CAL/CAI/CBT/ITS) and Open and Distance Learning; in these fields he has
numerous publications in international scientific journals and
conferences. He has co-ordinated or participated in numerous basic
research and development National and EU projects.
He is a member of the British Computer Society and of the British
Association of Chartered Engineers and a member of the Association for
the Development of Computer-Based Instructional Systems (ADCIS).
He is
in charge of the Educational Software Development Laboratory, the
establishment of which he proposed in 1992. Professor Pintelas, since
1998 is also involved with the Greek Open University as author, editor
and Academic in charge of the Informatics cycle of studies.
