EIKON is a national project under the ministry of Education and is targeted towards the development of educational software for secondary schools. The project has delivered an environment consisting of tools and educational material to teach the subject of Ā«technologyĀ» in relation to other interdisciplinary subjects such as physics, chemistry, environmental studies etc. The project uses multimedia, hypermedia, Internet and Virtual Reality technologies. The environment provides tools for the teacher (scenario manager, class administration etc.) as well as for the student (portfolio etc.).

MATCh is a European project (project no: 960106) under the DG III for Industry of the Commission of the European Communities and aims at the design and development of a Multimedia Authoring Environment for Children (MATCh). The project which is two years long and started on January 1997 will deliver:

  1. MATCh a multimedia authoring tool specially designed for children. Three multimedia applications developed with MATCh, that will serve as system testbeds

  2. User and System documentation

  3. Two reports on children assessment on Educational Computing and MATCh

YPERION is a technology and a tool for creating of Virtual Reality Training Systems.

SEMI (under COMETT I programme) which delivered METHODMAN I, an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) that can be used for training in the field of software project management. Studies of adaptation of the system in other methodology-involving fields were also produced. METHODMAN I was part of a training system that also involved JAC, a real-world situations simulator, which guides learners through the phases of development of a software project by simulating real world conditions.

GESEM (under COMET II programme), which delivered GEPRIAM, a generalised authoring environment has been developed, which produces methodology-teaching intelligent applications. GEPRIAM is highly interactive, and guides the author through the phases of instructional development, supporting first-level reusability, context sensitive help, and learner environment specification. Applications produced with the system support a two-level instructional strategy structuring using instructional strategy templates, intelligent methodology tutoring and learner environment administration capabilities. This project also delivered two methodology-teaching applications: one for training in project management and one for training in marketing practices.

CALSIM-AXE-10 (in the context of national programme under the General Directorate of Ministry for Research and Technology) aims at delivering a CAI system for teaching maintenance and operation personnel in the use of a telecommunications system named AXE-10, as well as a simulator for hands-on training on the same system

NEWRALG (under Pened'94 National Programme) aims at designing and optimising Artificial Neural Networks Learning Algorithms, as well as studying the application of the Neural Networks Technology in two diverse manufacturing contexts, via the two prototypes that will be delivered.

PLOUTARCHOS is a national project under the ministry of Education and the Pedagogical Istitute. It is targeted towards the development of educational software for secondary schools based on multimedia and hypermedia technologies. The goal of the project is the improvement of the quality of the educational software, the minimization of the production cost, the adaptation of the network technology in educational process, and familiarization of the current teaching stuff with the new applied software technologies in the education.

QualiLearn is a 2-year national project under the ministry of Education and is targeted towards the development of an Open and Distance Learning platform for University level education. It also involves the development of an ITS generator for client-server ITSs and the the development of a number of such ITSs for software quality assurance ect.

ODL-UoP is a 2-year national project under the ministry of Education and is targeted towards the development of an Open and Distanse Learning platform for the University of Patras. It also involves the development of a number of pilot courses to be offered to the students by the Center of Distance Education (CDE).

ODL-NTUA is a 2-year national project under the ministry of Education and is targeted towards the development of an Open and Distance Learning platform for the National Technical University of Athens. This ODL will eventually be linked with the ODL-UoP and others thus providing at national level a network of ODLs.

THRANIO is an 2 year national project under the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development and is focused on the development of Reusable Components based on Internet and virtual reality technologies for creating high quality educational software on exploratory learning.

AGENDA II (Attribute Grammar driven ENvironment for the Design Automation of digital systems). The goal of this project is the implementation of a hardware compiler based on automatic methods for developing compilers, using attribute grammars.

TELE-INTELLECT is an 18-month national project under the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development and is targeted towards the research, the design and the development of an Intelligent System for distance learning based on the cooperation of multiple heterogeneous intelligent educational systems. The goal of the project is the design of an open and a generic architecture, which will be a wrapper to any educational system in order to transform it into a intelligent educational agent, which will be capable to interact and cooperate with other intelligent agents over the network.

X-GENITOR is an 18-month national project under the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development and is targeted towards the design and the implementation of an integrated authoring environment for developing intelligent agent - based distance learning systems. The goal of the project is the design and the implementation of an integrated graphical authoring environment, which allow the instructor to design, specify, describe and develop a multi-agent educational system for distance learning. Each of the systems are delivered to the students through the network (LAN and Wan) and a centralized rendering educational services system (server)
