CONFERENCE IN NUMERICAL ANALYSIS

RECENT APPROACHES TO NUMERICAL ANALYSIS: THEORY,
METHODS AND APPLICATIONS

We are organizing a conference in Numerical Analysis entitled "Conference in Numerical Analysis (NumAn 2007) - Recent Approaches
to Numerical Analysis: Theory, Methods and Applications", which will take
place in Kalamata, Greece (Monday 3, to Friday 7, September 2007). The aims of
the conference are:
- to bring together and bequeath scientific activities, directions and
pursuits of Greek scientists in Greece and abroad on subjects that pertain to
the conference,
- to foster an exchange of views and ideas,
- to study the theoretical background required for methods, algorithms and
techniques used in applications,
- to search directions of theoretical results towards applications,
- to highlight open problems and future directions of numerical analysis.

CALL FOR PAPERS -- Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics (NEW)
Dear NumAn 2007 participants:
Greece and the Peloponnese in particular have suffered from fires that
have caused destruction on a scale that is unprecedented. As we grieve for
the loss of those who died in the fires and for the widespread
destruction, it is the sentiment of many of us that the Conference must go
on.
It is our humble hope that NumAn 2007 will not only serve further academic
inquiry, but that our participation as scientists and mathematicians at
this time of great suffering in Kalamata will also help foster a greater
sense of collective responsibility which we share as citizens of our
endangered planet.
Please note that we have posted the most recent version of the program at
the conference website to take into account a few changes that were
necessary to accommodate requests raised after the preliminary program was
announced.
Speakers please note that invited talks are scheduled for 1 hour including
questions, and contributed presentations for 30 minutes including
questions.
Moreover, due to some scheduling constraints, the programming on Monday is
somewhat different.

The contributions accepted for presentation will be published and distributed
at the conference. Full papers presented at the Conference may be submitted for
publication in a Special Issue of Journal of Computational and Applied
Mathematics (Elsevier). Details for paper submission to this special issue will
be announced at the conference.
