First-Year Student Registration

Dear first-year students,

We welcome you to the University of Patras and congratulate you on your success. The transition from school pupil to university student – an academic citizen – certainly raises many questions. We recommend that you regularly check the application https://my.upatras.gr/ (where all the information you need regarding your studies is gathered) and our Department's website https://www.math.upatras.gr/, where all announcements relevant to you are posted, along with the contact telephone numbers of the Secretariat. In order to acquire student status and ensure a smooth start to your university life, the necessary and mandatory steps (also described in detail at https://my.upatras.gr/protoeteis/) are, in order, as follows:  

  • Step 1: Online registration with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports (ΥΠΑΙΘΑ), https://eregister.it.minedu.gov.gr. Specifically, registrations will take place from Thursday, 27 August 2026 to Friday, 4 September 2026. The procedure concerns successful candidates of the 2026 General Lyceum (GEL) and Vocational Lyceum (EPAL) Panhellenic Examinations, the Muslim Minority of Thrace, those who submitted an application under the 10% category, and successful candidates under the 2026 special category for Serious Medical Conditions. Please pay close attention to the fields that need to be completed.   • Step 2: Completion of online registration with the University of Patras, eggrafes.upatras.grThe deadline for completing online registration with the University of Patras will be determined by the University, after the completion of the online registration procedure with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and once the Ministry has forwarded the lists of registered students. Step 2 applies to those who submitted the online registration application to the Ministry. The procedure is described in detail at https://my.upatras.gr/protoeteis/. For technical support during the registration completion process, you may contact 2610-96.2299 between 09:00 and 15:00 on all working days during the registration period.
  • Step 3: Receipt of Institutional Account login credentials (academic email). These are sent to the e-mail address you provided in the previous step, 2–3 days after your supporting documents have been checked and your registration has been finalized. IMPORTANT: from this point onwards, these credentials must be used for all online applications you submit (academic ID, meals, accommodation, course registration, etc.) and for your electronic correspondence with the University of Patras.
  • Step 4: Receipt of Certificate of Registration. The Secretariat of your Department will send a Certificate of Registration for all lawful purposes to your academic email account (at: https://webmail.ac.upatras.gr/, where you log in using the credentials received in Step 3). Male students will additionally receive a certificate for military service purposes.
  • Step 5: Application for an academic identity card (student pass). To obtain your academic identity card – student pass, submit an application to the Ministry at: https://submit-academicid.minedu.gov.gr/. Log in using your Institutional Account credentials and follow the instructions. Please note that you will need to upload a digital colour passport-style photograph.

Transfers – Relocations: If you wish, you may submit an application for transfer or relocation exclusively through the Ministry's information system at https://transfer.it.minedu.gov.gr/ (log in using the credentials received in Step 3). IMPORTANT: Specific criteria and requirements apply. Relevant information has been posted under the useful documents section of the application. The application dates are determined by the Ministry.

 

Student Services (Meals – Accommodation). Please note that there are application deadlines which are expected to be announced

  • Meals. If you meet the applicable financial criteria, you may be eligible for free meals upon presentation of a special card at the Student Residence restaurant on the University Campus in Patras, as well as at restaurants in the cities where Departments of the University of Patras are located.   • Accommodation. First-year students of the University of Patras who are interested in accommodation at the University of Patras Student Residences must submit the relevant application together with the required supporting documents at https://stegasi.upatras.gr.   • Housing allowance. If you rent accommodation, make sure that you sign valid rental agreements in good time. At the end of the academic year, on a date determined by the Ministry (estimated period: July 2027), you will be able to apply for a housing allowance. Classes begin on Monday, 28 September 2026

Attendance at classes is independent of the finalization of your registration. Please regularly check your Department's website  https://www.upatras.gr/education/undergraduate-studies/ for information about your class timetable.
