Since the academic year 2018-2019, the Department of Mathematics has been organizing and operating the new Postgraduate Studies ProgramComputational and Statistical Analytics in Data Science(English title "Computational and Statistical Data Analytics, MCDA") of the University of Patras (Government Gazette 1534/issue B/04-05-2018), in accordance with the provisions of Law 4485/2017 (Government Gazette 114/issue A). Following the provisions of the current legislation, the Program was extended until the academic year 2025-2026.(Government Gazette 2992/Issue B/08.05.2023).

The Master of Science in Data Science and Computational and Statistical Analytics aims to provide specialized interdisciplinary postgraduate education in data management, representation and processing, as well as the relevant computational techniques required. Students are trained in both theory and application through practical work and laboratories. The Master of Science in Data Science and Computational Analytics provides its students with the necessary scientific knowledge and skills to be able to appropriately select the tools of Information Systems, Business Operations and Statistical Analysis for the optimal management of all types of data in industry, public administration and businesses. In this way, the graduates of the Master of Science in Data Science who will be, or are, employed in positions of increased responsibility in the public and private sectors, evaluating each time the benefit that results from the solution of the wide variety of problems that arise, will lead to an upgrade in the quality of services and/or products provided.

The Postgraduate Diploma (PMS) awards a Postgraduate Diploma (PMS) in "Computational and Statistical Analytics in Data Science" (MSc in Computational and Statistical Data Analytics). The curriculum includes 6 compulsory courses, 2 elective courses and a Thesis, corresponding to a total of ninety (90) ECTS credits. The courses are semester-long and taught in Greek and/or English. The duration of the program for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma is 3 semesters.

Up to 30 graduates from domestic and recognized foreign institutions of higher education, from Departments of Natural and Technological Sciences, Polytechnic Schools, and Schools of Economics and Management are admitted to the Postgraduate Program each year. Graduates from Military Schools and Departments of Technical and Vocational Schools of a related field of study are also admitted. The admission procedure (requirements and criteria) is described in detail in theupdated program operating regulations.

Students do not pay tuition fees for their studies at the Postgraduate Program.

Additionally, the MSc finances, through the MODY ELKE of the University of Patras

  • a cash prize, based on criteria of excellence, to at least one new incoming student,

  • the presentation and/or publication of selected postgraduate theses of its students according to announced criteria and procedure.
