The Department of Mathematics of the University of Patras announces for the academic year 2025-2026 up to thirty (30) new positions for Postgraduate Students (MSc), for the Postgraduate Studies Program (MSc) entitled "Computational and Statistical Analytics in Data Science".

In order for their candidacy to be accepted, MF candidates must follow the following procedure:

1. Submit from 21/07/2025 to 21/09/2025, through the University of Patras electronic portalhttps://matrix.upatras.gr/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zups_pg_adm#application form by completing all mandatory fields.
2. Send by registered letter (ELTA or other courier company) or submit in person no later than Monday, September 22, 2025 (postmark) an application file to the address: Secretariat of the Department of Mathematics, University of Patras, 26504 Rio, Patras (With the indication: APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE M.S. "Computational and Statistical Analysis in Data Science").

The application file must contain the following supporting documents (failure to submit them will lead to the candidate being disqualified):

  1. Printed application form (find the application in a PDF file here)docxand topdf).

  2. Curriculum vitae (preferably ineuropass standards).

  3. Description of purpose and motivation for postgraduate studies (up to 300 words). Indicatively, the candidate can mention: the reasons why he chose the postgraduate program, how completing the postgraduate program is connected to his professional development, additional reasons that motivated him to choose the specific postgraduate program.

  4. Copy of a basic degree from a university. The P.M.S. program admits graduates/diplomas from Departments of Natural and Technological Sciences, Polytechnic Schools, Higher Military Educational Institutions (ASEI) and Schools of Economics and Management in Greece or similar institutions abroad, in accordance with the provisions of applicable legislation. Final year students from the above Departments may also apply, provided that they have submitted a Certificate of Completion of their Studies before the date of the Assembly meeting to validate the list of successful candidates. In any case, those selected must submit all the necessary supporting documents by the end of registration and before the start of classes. Applications may also be submitted by graduates of foreign institutions that are not yet included in the National Register of Recognized Institutions abroad of DOATAP. In this case, applicants submit a solemn declaration regarding the possession of a degree. In any case, those selected must provide documentary evidence that they have taken the required steps so that their degree and the corresponding Institution are to be included in the National Register of Recognized Institutions abroad of DOATAP, until the completion of their studies. Otherwise, the student is deleted and leaves the P.M.S. without establishing any claims for any certificate. In the event that the candidate is not yet a graduate/diploma holder, he/she submits a solemn declaration (see the model of the solemn declarationhere) which states that, if selected, he/she will present a certificate of completion of studies or the degree/diploma before the date of the Assembly meeting to validate the list of successful candidates in the Postgraduate Diploma (i.e. before the last week of September 2025).

  5. Certificate of detailed grades of the basic qualification, which also indicates the degree grade. In case the candidate is not yet a graduate/diploma holder, the application must include the numerical GPA of the grades of the courses that he/she has successfully completed so far, as well as the number of courses remaining to complete the studies.

  6. Diploma supplement, if granted.

  7. Copy of proof of English language proficiencyaccording to the provisions of ASEP(if applicable, otherwise you will have to participate in written exams organized by the Department).

The application file may contain additional supporting documents for the specific qualifications cited in the application (failure to submit them will result in the non-awarding of points for the corresponding qualifications):

  1. Certificate of basic studies (if provided for in the candidate's undergraduate curriculum).

  2. Abstract of thesis (up to 300 words and a copy of the cover), if one has been prepared.

  3. Scientific evidence of publications (conference proceedings, or scientific journals, or books, or monographs, etc.) if any.

  4. Letters of recommendation, if any. Submitted exclusively electronically to the address mcda_letters@math.upatras.gr, through the recommender's professional account, with the subject of the message: "Letter of Recommendation for Mr. LAST NAME".

  5. Copies of other academic qualifications held (e.g. another university/technical college degree/diploma, Master's Degree, Doctoral Degree, etc.) If the qualification has been awarded by a foreign institution, the relevant recognition certificate, if any, must also be submitted.

  6. Certificates of detailed grades of the above other degrees, if any.

  7. Diploma supplement of the above other academic qualifications, if any.

  8. Copy of proof of foreign language proficiency (other than English) if applicable.

  9. Any other element that, in the candidate's opinion, contributes to a more complete evaluation, e.g.: scholarships, prizes in mathematical competitions, participation in the Erasmus program, evidence of professional experience, etc.

  10. Copy of professional experience, if any.

For the evaluation and selection of the PhD candidates who will attend the postgraduate program, the candidates' performance during an oral interview is also taken into account. The interview is conducted on topics of broader interest and aims to: (a) determine the candidate's general scientific training and his/her ability to join the postgraduate program, (b) identify special qualifications and other characteristic activities, (c) evaluate the candidate's general abilities, his/her desire for postgraduate studies and his/her future prospects, (d) identify possible deficiencies that would lead to attending undergraduate courses, (e) identify possible obstacles to the full attendance of courses, (f) provide clarifications on his/her CV, etc.
The interview will take place around the second fortnight of September 2025 by the Postgraduate Student Candidate Evaluation Committee and the interview schedule will be announced in good time on the Department of Mathematics websites and to candidates by telephone.

There is no tuition fee for attending the postgraduate program. In addition, the postgraduate program finances, through the MODY ELKE of the University of Patras,

  • a cash prize, based on excellence criteria, to at least one new incoming student,

  • the presentation and/or publication of selected postgraduate theses of its students according to announced criteria and procedure.

The Postgraduate Program is implemented in Patras using face-to-face teaching and learning methods. However, for reasons of its smooth operation, lectures may be scheduled through distance learning (at a rate not exceeding 35%). Postgraduate students are provided with free meals and accommodation, in accordance with the provisions of the Law and the Regulations-Decisions of the Institution.
